About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tax Manager to join our growing team. This leadership role involves overseeing complex tax engagements, managing client relationships, mentoring team members, and contributing to firm strategy and development. Ideal candidates will bring a strong technical foundation, a passion for client service, and a collaborative approach to team leadership. CPA designation is required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Tax Engagement Oversight

  • Manage the preparation and review of complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and fiduciaries.

  • Oversee multiple engagements simultaneously to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.

  • Handle intricate tax matters, including multi-state compliance, high-net-worth individual planning, and corporate restructuring.

2. Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary advisor for a diverse client portfolio.

  • Conduct regular meetings to discuss tax filings, financial statements, and planning opportunities.

  • Proactively identify tax strategies tailored to client goals.

3. Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor Tax Seniors and Staff.

  • Deliver performance feedback and lead in-house technical training.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

4. Technical Expertise & Research

  • Stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax law changes.

  • Research and resolve complex tax scenarios.

  • Advise on advanced issues, including M&A, international tax compliance, and entity restructuring.

5. Workflow & Process Management

  • Manage workloads across busy and slower seasons to maintain efficiency.

  • Track engagement progress to meet deadlines and client expectations.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements.

6. Firm Development & Growth

  • Assist in identifying new client service opportunities.

  • Represent the firm in networking events, seminars, and public engagements.

  • Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning and growth initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

Technical Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of U.S. tax laws across all entity types.

  • Proficient in tax preparation and research tools (e.g., CCH, BNA, ProSystem FX).

Leadership & Management

  • Proven ability to lead teams and develop talent.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.

Client Service

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset.

  • Capable of translating complex tax regulations into actionable advice.

Professional Standards

  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and commitment to excellence.

  • Demonstrated dedication to continuous improvement and learning.

 

Compensation & Incentives:

  • Base Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 (based on experience, certifications, workload, and performance)

  • Performance Bonuses: $2,000–$7,000 annually based on client satisfaction, engagement success, and firm profitability.

  • Referral Bonus: $500 for successful employee referrals after 60 days.

  • Certification Bonus: $2,500 for CPA certification.

  • Effective management and timely delivery of tax engagements.

  • Growth and retention within your client portfolio.

  • Development of junior staff through coaching and mentoring.

  • Tangible contributions to the firm’s profitability and strategic initiatives.
