About Our Farm: Founded in 2002, Pats Pastured provides the highest quality pasture-raised and grass-fed meats. Our goal is to provide our livestock with a life that allows them to express their natural instincts fully in a pasture environment. That means that our pigs get to root, run and play; our chickens get to peck, scratch and crow; our turkeys gobble and strut; and our cows eat grass outside, NOT corn in confinement.

General Description: Our farm is looking for motivated and out-going individuals with a passion for agriculture and food to represent Pats Pastured both at our home farm store and at various Rhode Island farmers markets.

We have an immediate need for market staff to work our indoor market in Newport on Saturdays. The market hours are 9:00am - 12:00pm (hours worked approx. 6:30am - 1:30pm).

Additionally, we are starting to recruit for our outdoor market season.

Starting in early May and running through the end of October, these are seasonal retail positions. Beyond helping to share with the community our farm's pride and passion in what we grow, the work involves a unique combination of product handling and sales, savvy farm marketing, and good ol' fashioned face-to-face customer service.

We are hiring several part-time employees for our farmers' market positions. We offer the opportunity to work multiple shifts in several locations including:

• Wednesday at Aquidneck Market, Newport; Market Hours 2:00pm 6:00pm
  • (hours worked approx. 12:00pm 7:30pm)
• Saturday at Aquidneck Market, Middletown; Market Hours 9:00am- 12:00pm
  • (hours worked approx. 7:00am 1:30pm)
• Saturday at Casey Farm Market, Saunderstown; Market Hours 8:30am- 12:30pm
  • (hours worked approx. 7:00am 1:30pm)
• Saturday at Hope Street Market, Providence; Market Hours 9:00am- 1:00pm
  • (hours worked approx. 7:00am 2:30pm)
• Pats Pastured Farm Store, East Greenwich, as available

We also have openings working our FOOD CART at the Hope Street Market. Food service experience a definite plus:

• Saturday at Hope Street Market, Providence, FOOD CART Hours 9:00am- 1:00pm
  • (hours worked approx. 7:30am 2:00pm)

Farmers Market Staff will come to the farm in East Greenwich to pick up product before the market, and return product to the farm after the market, as well as for monthly staff meetings.

Requirements: Schedule and availability are critical. Must have a valid drivers license and clean driving record, be able to lift up to 50 lbs and have a good personality for sales.

All applicants must also:

• Be well organized, efficient, and able to work independently.
• Possess a positive, diligent work ethic.
• Actively take initiative.
• Love working outdoors in all weather.
• Be friendly, outgoing, and knowledgeable.
• Present a professional, clean, warm and approachable appearance.
• Have excellent communication skills.
• Have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record. MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) required for hire.

Compensation:

$17.50 - $19.00 per hour DOE; health insurance is not provided.

Staff receive generous food allowance and discounts.
