Job Details Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a full docket of misdemeanor and felony criminal cases from intake through resolution.
- Conduct client consultations, evaluate legal issues, and provide strategic advice.
- Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, motion hearings, plea negotiations, and trials.
- Draft and file legal motions, discovery responses, and correspondence.
- Negotiate with prosecutors to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Appear regularly in court as first chair on hearings and trials.
- Collaborate with investigators, experts, and support staff to develop strong defense strategies.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients and their families throughout the legal process.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and in good standing with the Texas State Bar.
- 3+ years of experience practicing criminal law, including courtroom litigation.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred).
- Trial experience and familiarity with Dallas County criminal courts.
- Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume caseload.
- Commitment to providing client-centered representation and upholding ethical standards.
